New Member Code of Ethics
All new REALTOR® members must complete a course on the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS® within the first 180 days of their membership as a condition of membership.
The Board offers several courses throughout the year in cooperation with the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS®. The courses are held at the Board office located at 2178 Mendon Road, Suite 400, Cumberland, RI. They are approved for 3 CORE Rhode Island Real Estate licensee continuing education credits and are 3 hours in length. Click here to learn more or sign up for our 2/22/2021 broadcast class from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Our next broadcast class will be 5/3/21 from 6-9 pm.
There are no exceptions to this new member course requirement.
As a point of reference, REALTOR® isn't a synonym for real estate broker or real estate salesperson. A REALTOR®, simply put, is an individual who has voluntarily sought membership in the REALTOR® Association and abides by the Code of Ethics of the NAR. A REALTOR® is someone who is licensed (i.e. salesperson, broker, appraiser, auctioneer, property manager).
